POLITICAL SATIRE in FLASH
My first example of a FLASH interface for a political satire cartoon website is
JibJab.com Roger & Scott Wojahn are the propri-
etors of this irreverent website that lampoons the continuing goings-on in Wash-
ington DC. It has a characteristic style that composes its cartoons with photo-
graphic cut&paste collages. They play out as montages with dialogue,
monologue,
background music, soundbites, and music clips. The use of FLASH allows them to tell
a fictitious or humorous story line that would otherwise be impossible to compose.
My other example of political satire using a FLASH format is:
TooStupid This site also
lampoons DC episodes, but also targets political phenomena in California and
other locations. Unlike JibJab this site uses the shape shifting capabilites of
the motion tween and the shape tween to create seamless cartoons
that avoid using photos and collage to present a more hand drawn cartoon style. It has a very large number of archived cartoons.
